Always keeping an ear close to the wind

Bachmann is increasing the efficiency of condition monitoring by integration into plant control

Condition monitoring systems (CMS) enable the availability and efficiency of wind turbines to be increased. Bachmann Monitoring combines signals from the CMS sensor unit with the operating status, leading to better accuracy of diagnosis and increased efficiency of CMS.

The Condition Monitoring System “Ω-Guard®” from Bachmann electronic provides worldwide access to the status data of the monitored plant.

Condition monitoring is already giving the operators of wind energy plants real financial benefits. The early detection of faults on the monitored components enables the prevention of major damage and lengthy unscheduled downtimes that often involve considerable costs. The quality of the maintenance is improved; thus having a positive effect on the lifespan of the systems. Insurance companies usually reward the installation of a CMS with more attractive premiums.

Through the holistic integration of plant controls and CMS these benefits can be increased even more. However, in order to achieve real synergies the data collected by the CMS must be available to the automation system and vice versa without the need for any interfaces. The Bachmann CMS “W-Guard®” and “AIC212” CMS module for example can be integrated without any problem into Bachmann electronic’s comprehensive M1 automation family. Thus more reliable statements are possible and efficiency of CMS is improved.
