Profibus configuration under Vista™

With the Profibus configurator integrated into the all-in-one engineering tool SolutionCenter, Bachmann electronic offers a Profibus tool usable under Microsoft Vista™.

In the familiar “look and feel” of the SolutionCenter, a Profibus configuration can also be created without reference to the hardware and subsequently transferred to a real-existing online controller. Devices from third-party manufacturers can be received into the Profibus catalog as usual through the device description file in the GSD format.

In distributed automation systems, which employ control components from various manufacturers, the M1 control system is often used as a Profibus slave. Profibus is used here as a standardized medium for data exchange and for synchronization between the components. With the further-developed Profibus configurator, a pure slave configuration for an M1 system can be generated and transmitted very conveniently. In addition, a new device description file (GSD) can be exported for the configured M1 slave. This file can then be taken into the configuration tool of the third-party manufacturer to project the master there.
