WindSTAR is an NSF-funded Industry/University Cooperative Research Center for Wind Energy, Science, Technology and Research, that enables a strong collaboration between universities, industrial partners and government towards the development of novel solutions to address wind energy problems. Bachmann electronic is proud to be an active WindSTAR industry member and Chair of the Industry Advisory Board (IAB) for 2021-2022, which votes on research proposals developed jointly with university faculty, and then mentors the selected projects to ensure high-value results.

WindSTAR industry partnerships bring together university and industry researchers to conduct basic and applied research on topics that relate to the advancement of wind turbines and the wind industry and combine state-of-the-art capabilities and knowledge to advance projects relevant and of mutual interest to industry partners.

More specifically, extensive research is performed on areas such as:

  • Composites and Blade Manufacturing
  • Foundations and Towers
  • Structural Health Monitoring, Non-Destructive Inspection, & Testing
  • Wind Farm Modeling and Measurement Campaign
  • Control Systems for Turbines and Farms
  • Energy Storage and Grid Integration

In addition, researchers train students in the advanced technologies that are important to industry members, as well as to foster a community for networking, interactions and collaboration.

Bachmann electronic is committed to provide continued support to the WindSTAR partnership through its active membership and dedication towards the realization of numerous challenging projects that will improve sustainability, generate value to the industry, drive down the cost of wind power and help make the use of wind energy globally widespread.
