M-Target for Simulink® from automation specialist Bachmann electronic enables model-based development for its M1 Automation System. The sequential and closed-loop control program is tested in advance at an office workplace against a multiphysical plant simulation model. Finally, with a mouse click, code for the M1 controller is generated, installed and run on the CPU.

Suppliers of machine components are also increasingly providing simulation models, which are integrated into an overall plant simulation. Bachmann electronic offers the right solution with the current M-Target for Simulink® Version 2.50. With the new SimConnect blocks, a co-simulation can be created in no time. The control code continues to be processed on the M1 real-time controller. From now on, however, parts of the plant simulation can also be executed on the engineering PC. This enables additional flexibility in the design of an overall test setup.

The advantages of model-based development with M-Target for Simulink® are obvious: Control algorithms for the M1 controller are designed and tested directly in the office. This reduces the necessary commissioning time on site to a minimum. The M1 automation system with its onboard networking capabilities and security packages is the optimal basis for future-proof solutions in the industrial environment.
