Product Manager Business Unit Wind

Why is the renewable energy sector currently gaining importance in the SCADA environ-ment at Bachmann?

Dipl.-Ing. Janine Buchwald-Nolte:
"Renewable energies are growing rapidly, especially the combination of different energy sources such as wind with photovoltaics, often in combination with battery storage. This requires flexible, scalable SCADA solutions that are easy to integrate, future-proof, and cover all levels from the control center to individual systems. Our forsiteSCADA combines these requirements and is based on proven atvise® SCADA technology."

How does forsiteSCADA complement Bachmann's SCADA portfolio?

Dipl.-Ing. Janine Buchwald-Nolte:
"forsiteSCADA utilizes the core technology of atvise® for a complete, ready-to-use SCADA system that is specialized for the energy sector. It already has the most important key performance indicators of the individual producers, as well as detailed representations of energy flows, statistical analyses, and geographical maps. At the same time, it benefits from the flexibility and interoperability of atvise®, which extends across all end devices and platforms."

How does atvise® and forsiteSCADA interact?

Daniel Lomosits MSc MBA BSc:
"atvise® provides flexible, web-based visualization and OPC UA-supported access, giving developers and operators maximum freedom and security. forsiteSCADA builds on this foundation, offering a specialized toolkit for renewable energies with a wealth of widgets and analysis functions. This combination is a true innovation in the market."

Which new features of forsiteSCADA are particularly noteworthy?

Dipl.-Ing. Janine Buchwald-Nolte:
"We are constantly expanding, for example, the widget catalog, so that users can easily select the most suitable option from an even wider range of pre-configured displays. If that's not enough, users can easily create their own custom widgets for the dashboard, such as... For example, the customizable "Image & Value" widget allows users to integrate their own machine image, onto which they can then place any values to create a visual representation of processes.

With the new and scalable software concept of the forsiteSCADA product, customers can use forsiteSCADA light for the smallest applications; for large assets with several hundred wind turbines, forsiteSCADA premium is used.

In between, there are the levels forsiteSCADA basic and advanced, which can also scale in functionality and number of energy generation units."

How do users benefit from these innovations?

Daniel Lomosits MSc MBA BSc:
"They can quickly create, operate, and customize dashboards without any programming. Complex data becomes easily understandable through clear visualizations. The ability to use both online and offline capabilities is extremely helpful, especially in remote wind farms, as is the ability to clearly monitor live data and trends."

What's on the roadmap for atvise® and forsiteSCADA in the future?

Daniel Lomosits MSc MBA BSc:
"We are continuously working on improving usability, performance, and security – recent releases have included two-factor authentication, redundancy functions, certificate management, and fine-grained event archives as examples. We are also driving the integration of AI-powered analytics and dashboard features to further accelerate time-to-market and thus better support our customers."

Dipl.-Ing. Janine Buchwald-Nolte:
"Exactly, and for forsiteSCADA, we've also planned to rethink security and advanced user management in the upcoming releases to meet increasing demands, as well as further develop alarming and notification features. We also intend to expand the reporting capabilities to better meet customer requirements for diverse reporting options."

How important is an application-oriented, intuitive UI for your customers?

Dipl.-Ing. Janine Buchwald-Nolte:
"Extremely important. Customers don't want complicated operating concepts, but rather intuitive, configurable interfaces. Our widget library and the ability to create custom views without developer assistance are highly valued and significantly increase user acceptance.

Should a customer require a specific extension for forsiteSCADA in the form of a view, they can create their own displays using the atvise® builder. These displays can then be fully integrated into both the main menu and as widgets within forsiteSCADA.

This allows the customer to benefit from the best of both worlds: a complete SCADA system with the easy option of expanding monitoring capabilities via atvise® displays."

What should customers know about atvise® and forsiteSCADA today?

Daniel Lomosits MSc MBA BSc:
"atvise® is the flexible, open web SCADA platform that supports a wide range of industries – from manufacturing to energy. forsiteSCADA builds on this and delivers specialized solutions for the challenges of renewable energies."

Dipl.-Ing. Janine Buchwald-Nolte:
"And we are committed to continuously developing our solutions so that our customers are optimally prepared for tomorrow's requirements – efficient, secure, and easy to use."
