TU Ilmenau welcomed this March the first Science Camp of the Alliance of Thuringian Engineering Sciences, part of the ProTELC (Pro Thuringian Engineering Life Cycle) project.

For a whole week, from March 7 to 11, 35 Bachelor students from the seven universities of the THÜR ING alliance cooperated closely in interdisciplinary teams on the topic of 'Digital Twin'. With the guidance and encouragement of professors and industry experts, whose thematic lectures opened new horizons on possible applications, this intensive learning experience led to the successfully development of digital images of wind turbines that captured and evaluated sensor data in real time.

Bachmann electronic GmbH actively supports such creative initiatives and thus could not be absent from this event. Ulrich Oertel and Holger Fritsch from Bachmann Monitoring GmbH spoke about the real application of digital twins in the field of wind energy. At the end of this challenging week the students had learned to solve specific applications and the digital twins of the wind turbine which were presented all included their own solutions for specific use cases.

We would like to thank the Alliance of Thuringian Engineering Sciences and the TU Ilmenau for the great organization of this constructive and energizing science camp. We were pleased to be part of it and will continue to encourage the next generation of engineers through such engaging and creative experiences.
