The OPC UA service is a pure software solution and can be operated directly on the control CPUs without additional hardware. It provides complete, transparent access to the application's process data. Applications such as visualizations, production data acquisition or management execution systems find a manufacturer-independent interface with OPC UA.
As a pure software interface, OPC runs on a PC or IPC with Windows and communicates with the M1 automation systems via Ethernet. Any standard-compliant OPC clients are then operated either on the server PC or in the network and allow data exchange in both directions.
